John Wick: I just keep asking why her?
Marcus: There’s no rhyme or reason to this life. It just days like today scattered among the rest.
John Wick: Are you sure?
In the first movie, John Wick wants to know why his wife died. His friend tells him that there is no meaning. John Wick asks if Marcus is sure about this. John Wick wants an argument to show that there is no meaning. No one can give him a response. The other characters seem to have accepted that life is without meaning and have embraced a kind of Epicureanism. They deny that there is any rhyme or reason, or, in other words, they say nothing is clear to reason.
